Purpose of the function?

Building knowledge in our organization to contribute to strategy & execution, based on different axes; market analysis, competitive intelligence and channels-2-market. From this knowledge you will provide insights to internal clients such as Sales, Marketing, Operations and Product Management in order to further develop strategy and execute with the right basis of information.

Your Responsibilities?

Market analysis

  • Gather lubricants/car market data per market and analyze potential business opportunities versus actual performance.
  • Gather market insights and studies on what’s driving the purchase decision of lubricants in each channel and segment of the market.
  • You gather information on future plans of our distributors. General forecasts, planned expansion of activities in new segments and channels.
  • Recommend opportunities in specific channels, market segments and product groups towards internal teams and the distributors.
  • Provide distributors up-to-date information regarding market trends, opportunities and developments. Objective is to know the local market at least as well as they do.

Competitive intelligence

  • Gather competitive intelligence on how our competitors are evolving on sales, product and marketing strategies.
  • Map the different actors in the market in regions and contribute to regional brand positioning strategies to counter competitive presence & actions.
  • Analyse the market shares in the local and regional markets and use the trends in decision making internally.


  • Analysis of our target customers at each level and in each segment. Persona’s-based approach to define profiles that then defines specific sales and marcom approaches.
  • Translate the insights gathered into suggestions for adapted marcom actions for each market.
  • From the results of the analysis, we can make account-based conclusions and define further actions. Also define best practices and share results with other countries/regions.

Your qualifications?

Min. 5 to 8 years of market research experience Detailed understanding of both qualitative and quantitative marketing research methodologies Strong and demonstrated critical thinking, strategic thinking, process improvement, relationship-building and problem-solving abilities Able to synthesize information from multiple sources to develop conclusions and recommendations Experience / knowlegde of the Automotive Aftermarket business is a plus Fluent in English/Dutch
